Reaction Steps
A mixture of 17.7 g of the above ester was refluxed in 150 ml of 37% hydrochloric acid for 2 hours, giving 10 g of 1-ethyl-1,4-dihydro-6,7,8-trifluoro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid, mp 240° C. (dec.).
