Neat methanesulfonyl chloride (0.40 mL, 5.1 mmol) was added to a 0° C., DCM solution (20 mL) of 1-(2-bromo-4-chlorophenyl)ethanol (1.2 g, 5.1 mmol) and Et3N (0.78 mL, 5.6 mmol) and the resulting mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature gradually. After 30 min, Et3N (0.78 mL, 5.6 mmol) and 4′-chloro-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-amine (1.0 g, 5.1 mmol) were added sequentially and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature. After 16 h the resulting mixture was concentrated and purified via column chromatography to yield the title compound.
