Procedure
Methyl 3′-chloro-2′-formyl-5′-(trifluoromethyl)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-carboxylate (430 mg, 1.3 mmol), 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (0.59 mL, 3.1 mmol), S-PHOS (103 mg, 0.3 mmol), Pd(Oac)2 (28 mg, 0.1 mmol) and K3PO4hydrate (1.3 g, 6.3 mmol) were dissolved in 1,4-dioxane (5 mL) and water (0.3 mL) and the resulting mixture was heated to 90° C. After 16 h the resulting mixture was cooled to room temperature and filtered through CELITE. The filtrate was diluted EtOAc, washed with water and saturated aqueous NaHCO3, dried (Na2SO4), concentrated, and purified via column chromatography to yield the title compound.
