Procedure
To a solution of ethyl 2-hydroxy-4-(2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy)benzimidate hydrochloride (0.35 g, crude, ˜1.0 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) was added methyl 3-amino-2-(chloroamino)-2-methylpropanoate hydrochloride (0.24 g, crude, ˜1.0 mmol) followed by dropwise addition of Et3N (1 mL) at 0° C. The resulting solution was refluxed overnight. The solvent was evaporated under vacuum and the residue was purified by prep-HPLC to obtain the title compound as colorless oil (175 mg, 50%). LC-MS (ES, m/z): 353 [M+H]+.
