2,5-difluoro-4-[2-oxo-2-(piperazin-1-yl)ethyl]benzonitrile was prepared in an analogous fashion as described above in the synthesis of 1-(piperazin-1-yl)-2-[4-(1H-tetrazol-1-yl)phenyl]ethanone hydrochloride starting from tert-butyl piperazine-1-carboxylate and (4-cyano-2,5-difluorophenyl)acetic acid.
