A solution of tert-butyl 4-{2-[(3R)-3-methyl-1-oxo-3,4-dihydro-1H-isochromen-6-yl]ethyl}piperazine-1-carboxylate (850 mg, 2.27 mmol) was stirred in 4N HCl in dioxane for 4 hours. The excess solvent was then removed to give the free amine as the HCl salt. LC-MS (IE, m/z): 275 [M+1]+.
