Procedure
To a solution of ethyl 2-(2H-indazol-2-yl)nicotinate (3.44 g, 12.87 mmol; prepared according to procedures of WO 2008/080969) in a mixture of tetrahydrofurane (THF) (50 ml) and methanol (100 ml) a 2 M aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (20 ml) was added and stirred over night at room temperature. The mixture then was concentrated. Water (200 ml) and then a 2 N aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid (HCl) (40 ml) were added, and the immediately formed solid was filtered off under suction. Treatment of the solids with ethylacetate (50 ml) gave 2.95 g of the title compound as a white solid.
