5-(Bromoacetyl)-2-fluorobenzonitrile (590 mg, 2.44 mmol) and (S)-4-N-BOC-2-hydroxymethyl-piperazine (527 mg, 2.44 mmol) were dissolved in THF (40 mL) at 0° C. then TEA (247 mg, 2.44 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at RT for 16 h, then poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and evaporated to dryness. The crude product was purified by MPLC through an 80 g Redi-sep column using 0-100% EtOAc/hexane to yield the title compound.
