A solution of 6-methyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-[1,2,3]triazolo[4,5-c]pyridine (530 mg, 1.932 mmol) in acetic acid (100 mL) was passed through a Rh/C cartridge using an HCube® hydrogenation apparatus at 90 bar, 90° C. and 1 mL/min. The acetic acid was concentrated and to the residue was added 1N NaOH until pH 12 was obtained. The water layer was extracted with 20% IPA/CH2Cl2 three times. The organic layers were combined, dried over anhydrous MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to a light brown solid (243 mg, 58%). MS (ESI) mass calcd. C11H13N5, 215.12. m/z found, 216.1 [M+H]+. 1H NMR (600 MHz, MeOD) δ 8.57 (ddd, J=4.9, 1.8, 0.9 Hz, 1H), 8.11-8.03 (m, 2H), 7.47 (ddd, J=7.2, 4.9, 1.2 Hz, 1H), 4.13-3.97 (m, 2H), 3.35-3.40 (m, 1H), 3.09-3.02 (m, 1H), 2.86-2.79 (m, 1H), 1.34 (d, J=6.4 Hz, 3H).
