To a stirred solution of ethyl (6-iodo-3-(3-methoxy-4-((6-methoxypyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-yl)carbamate (0.300 g, 0.51 mmol), phenylboronic acid (0.093 g, 0.76 mmol), and sodium carbonate (0.108 g, 1.20 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (8 mL) and water (3 mL) was added (1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene)palladium(II) dichloride (0.080 g, 0.11 mmol). The mixture was heated to 60° C. under a nitrogen atmosphere. After 4 h, the reaction mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature and was filtered through Celite. The filtrate was diluted with water (40 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×20 mL). The combined organic phases were washed with brine (2×20 mL), dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated. Chromatographic purification of the residue (silica gel, 2% methanol in dichloromethane elute) afforded 0.100 g (40%) of ethyl (3-(3-methoxy-4-((6-methoxypyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzyl)-6-phenyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-yl)carbamate as a white solid.
