8-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrobenzofuro[3,2-c]pyridine (14 mg, 0.04 mmol) was treated with 1.25M HCl in methanol (3 mL). After stirring for 10 min the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give 8-(phenylsulfonyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrobenzofuro[3,2-c]pyridine hydrochloride (12 mg, 88%, AUC HPLC>99%) as a white solid: mp 243° C.: 1H NMR (CD3OD, 300 MHz) δ 8.27 (d, J=1.8 Hz, 1H), 8.01-7.93 (m, 3H), 7.70 (d, J=9.0 Hz, 1H), 7.64-7.53 (m, 3H), 4.48 (t, J=1.8 Hz, 2H), 3.68 (t, J=6.0 Hz, 2H), 3.22-3.17 (m, 2H); ESI MS m/z 314 [M+H]+.
