Procedure

The product of step C (60 mg, 0.12 mmol) was converted to the hydrochloride salt by dissolving in methanol and treating with 1.25 M HCl in methanol. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give 6-chloro-N,N-dimethyl-8-(phenylsulfonyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrobenzofuro[3,2-c]pyridine-1-carboxamide hydrochloride (60 mg, 94%, AUC HPLC>99%) as an off-white solid: mp <<MP data>>; 1H NMR (CD3OD, 400 MHz) δ 7.92-7.90 (m, 3H), 7.77-7.76 (m, 1H), 7.56-7.48 (m, 3H), 5.03 (s, 1H), 3.52-3.46 (m, 1H), 3.40 (s, 3H), 3.18-3.12 (m, 1H), 3.08 (s, 3H), 2.93-2.77 (m, 2H); ESI MS m/z 419 [M+H]+.
