To a solution of [(3R)-3-(5-chloro-2-cyanophenoxy)-3-(2-thiazolyl)propyl]-carbamic acid 1,1-dimethylethyl ester (140 mg, 0.36 mmol) in dry dioxan (3 ml) was added 4M HCl in dioxan (1 ml) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 h. The precipitate was collected, washed with ethyl acetate and vacuum dried to leave 106 mg of a white solid (90%).
