An aqueous solution of NaOH (2 mL; 0.5 N) was added to a solution of 6-[4-[2-(2-methoxycarbonylethyl)phenyl]benzyl]-8-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-1,8-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]nonane-7,9-dione (0.11 g) in MeOH (7 mL) and the mixture was stirred for 18 hours. The reaction mixture was acidified, diluted with water and extracted with EtOAc. The extract was washed with water, brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated to give the titled compound (0.109 g). MS (m/z) 559 (M++Na).
