To a solution of 4-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)benzoyl chloride (10 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (40 mL) is added dropwise a solution of 2,4,6-trimethoxystyryl-3-amino-4-methoxybenzylsulfone (10 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran. The solution is stirred overnight and the reaction progress is monitored by TLC. The solvent is removed and the residue is taken up in dichloromethane and washed with water. The organic layer is dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and evaporated to give the desired amide product.
