Procedure
Add 22 μl (0.545 mmol) of hydrazine monohydrate to 120 mg (0.349 mmol) of trans-{[4-(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-2H-isoindol-2-yl)cyclopent-2-en-1-yl]oxy}acetic acid tert-butyl ester in 0.3 ml of ethanol. Heat the mixture under reflux for 15 min. This forms a voluminous precipitate. After cooling, remove it by filtration and wash it with a little ethanol. Concentrate the filtrate under reduced pressure and use the resulting product (74 mg) without further purification.
