4-Chloro-2-(2-methoxyphenyl)quinazoline (0.463 g, 1.709 mmol), (2R,4S)-4-aminopyrrolidine-1,2-dicarboxylic acid 1-tert-butyl ester 2-methyl ester (0.480 g, 1.709 mmol) and triethylamine (0.715 mL, 5.127 mmol) in dioxane (9 mL) were heated at reflux for 3 days. The mixture was cooled, diluted with dichloromethane (50 mL), and washed with water (50 mL). The organic extracts were dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. Purification by silica gel chromatography (10% methanol in dichloromethane) gave the title compound as a solid (0.423 g, 52%).
