Procedure
A mixture of 5-bromo-2-nitropyridine (500 mg, 2.46 mmol) and 1-methylpiperazine (1 mL) is heated at 80° C. for 2 hour. Then water is added. The aqueous layer is extracted with EtOAc, and the organic extracts were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product is purified by column chromatography (SiO2, MeOH:CH2Cl2=0.7:99.3 to 6:93) to give 520 mg of the title compound as yellow solid.
