To a cooled (0° C.) solution of 3-(5-(2,5-difluorophenyl)-3-((S)-2-methoxypropanoyl)-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)propanenitrile (0.041 g, 0.090 mmol, Example 14, Step C) in ethanol (0.5 mL) was added 9.8 M ethanolic HCl (0.5 mL, 4.9 mmol). After stirring at 0° C. for 1 hour and then at ambient temp for 8 hours, the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to provide the product.
