Procedure
To a solution of 4-(2-bromoacetyl)-N-tert-butylbenzenesulfonamide (8.71 g, 26.1 mmol) in EtOH (45 mL) was added thiourea (2.38 g, 31.3 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated to 70° C. for 15 h and poured into an aqueous solution of NaHCO3. The mixture was stirred for 30 min. The precipitate that formed was collected by filtration, washed with water, and dried under high vacuum to give 4-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-N-tert-butylbenzenesulfonamide.
