Procedure

A mixture of 4-hydroxy-2-oxo-7-(4-phenoxy-phenyl)-2H-chromene-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (75 mg, 0.193 mmol) and sodium glycinate (94 mg, 0.96 mmol) in methoxyethanol (10 mL) was refluxed for 18 h; then cooled, the solvent was removed, the residue was redissolved in water, acidified with 2 M HCl, the precipitates were collected and washed with water, air dried to give the desired title product (80 mg). ESI (m/z): 432 (M+H)+.
