To a solution of tert-butyl 1,5-naphthyridin-3-ylcarbamate (D-12) (4.040 g, 16.5 mmol, 1.0 eq) in methanol (24 mL), concentrated hydrochloric acid (36.5%, 10 mL, 120 mmol, 7.27 eq) was added.
