HCl (2 M in diethyl ether) (92 ml, 185 mmol) was added dropwise to a solution of 6-((2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl)-5-(3-fluorophenyl)-1,3-dimethyl-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine-2,4(3H,6H)-dione (7.15 g, 18.46 mmol) and water (6.65 g, 369 mmol) in acetonitrile (35.1 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. Evaporation of the reaction mixture under vacuum afforded the title compound.
