Procedure

A mixture of 0.96 g of N2-methyl-5-trifluoromethylpyridine-2,3-diamine, 0.95 g of 2-chloronicotinic acid, 0.85 g of EDCI hydrochloride and 10 ml of pyridine was heated and stirred at 120° C. for 3 hours. Water was poured to the reaction mixture cooled to room temperature, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was applied to a silica gel column chromatography to obtain 1.02 g of 2-(2-chloropyridin-3-yl)-3-methyl-6-trifluoromethyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine. 2-(2-Chloropyridin-3-yl)-3-methyl-6-trifluoromethyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine
