Procedure

To a stirred solution of ethyl 6-iodo-3-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-2-carboxylate (250 mg) in EtOH (5 ml) was added hydrazine hydrate (0.14 ml) at room temperature. The reaction vessel was sealed and heated at 80° C. for 16 h. The mixture was then cooled to room temperature, and the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was washed with EtOAc to give the title compound (200 mg) as a light yellow solid.
