Triethylamine (0.37 ml, 2.63 mmol) and morpholine (0.15 ml, 1.71 mmol) were added to a solution of methyl 2-(acetyloxy)-5-bromo-4-(bromomethyl)benzoate (may be prepared as described in Description 4; 481 mg, 1.31 mmol) in acetone (10 ml). The mixture was stirred for 30 minutes then the solvent was removed in vacuo. The residue was redissolved in dichloromethane (10 ml), washed with water (10 ml), dried (MgSO4) and the solvent removed in vacuo to give the morpholine intermediate.
