Procedure
A solution of methyl 2-phenyl-3-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)quinoxaline-6-carboxylate (80 mg, 0.20 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in MeOH (10 mL) and NaOH (23.5 mg, 3.00 equiv) was placed in a 50-mL round-bottom flask and allowed to react, with stirring, for 3 hrs while the temperature was maintained at 50° C. in an oil bath. The pH value of the solution was adjusted to 3 with HCl (2N). The resulting solids were collected by filtration, yielding 35 mg (45%) of 2-phenyl-3-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)quinoxaline-6-carboxylic acid as a yellow solid.
