Procedure

To a solution of methyl 4-(1-cyclopentyl-4-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridin-3-yl)thiophene-2-carboxylate (27.0 mg) obtained in Example 3 in a mixed solvent of methanol (2 mL)/THF (2 mL)/water (2 mL) was added 8N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (0.025 mL) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at 90° C. for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was diluted with water, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with 0.1N hydrochloric acid, water and saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (26.0 mg).
