Procedure

To a solution of methyl 3-(5-carbamoyl-3-thienyl)-1-cyclopentyl-4-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine-7-carboxylate (30 mg) obtained in Example 34 in a mixed solvent of THF (0.5 mL) and methanol (0.5 mL) was added lithium borohydride (4.4 mg), and the mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. To the reaction mixture was added water, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane) to give the title compound (8 mg).
