To a suspension of t-butyl 4-(3-(7-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-2-yl)-2-oxo-2H-pyrano[2,3-b]pyridin-7-yl)piperazine-1-carboxylate (112 mg, 0.24 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (3 mL) was added 4N HCl in dioxane (1.5 mL). The mixture was stirred for 16 hours, and filtered. The solid was washed with ether and dried under nitrogen. 3-(7-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-2-yl)-7-(piperazin-1-yl)-2H-pyrano[2,3-b]pyridin-2-one hydrochloride was obtained quantitatively and used in the next step without further purification. MS m/z 362.3 [M+H]+.
