Procedure
To a solution of tert-butyl 3-(3-(1-(1H-benzo[d]imidazole-2-carbonyl)azetidin-3-yloxy)pyrazin-2-yl)-5,6-dihydropyridine-1(2H)-carboxylate (see EXAMPLE 10.72; 120 mg, 0.252 mmol) in DCM (2 mL) is added 2,2,2-trifluoroacetic acid (116 μL, 1.511 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature 24 hours. The reaction was concentrated, and the residue dissolved in MeOH (2 mL) and applied to a Varian SCX ion exchange column (1 g). The salt was eluted with MeOH (2×5 mL) and the product eluted with 2.0 M NH3 in MeOH (2×5 mL). The NH3 containing fractions were concentrated to give the crude amine which was carried on to the next step without further purification.
