When methyl 3-(2-(3-(2-ethyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-hydroxyphenoxy)propoxy)-6-hydroxyphenyl)propionate (Example 12) was hydrolyzed under the conditions of Preparation 26, in addition to the desired product 3-(2-(3-(2-ethyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-hydroxyphenoxy)propoxy)-6-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid (Example 13), the title product was isolated in 10% yield, as isolated by preparative reverse phase HPLC. NMR, MS. Analysis for C26H25FO5 : Calc: C, 76.55; H, 5.77; Found: C, 76.39; H, 5.92.
