3-Hydroxy-2-methyl-3-[4-(2-methyl-quinolin-4-ylmethoxy)-phenyl]-propionic acid methyl ester (0.10 g, 0.27 mmol) was added to a solution of KOH/NH2OH/MeOH (2 mL) under a nitrogen atmosphere at room temperature. The reaction was stirred for 1 h and was acidified with TFA. The solution was concentrated and the product was purified by HPLC on a C-18 column eluting with an acetonitrile:water:TFA gradient to give the title compound as two separated diasteromers (0.063 g, 48%) and (0.035 g, 27%) as a white solid. MS found: (M+H)+=367.
