N-(3,4-Dichloro-benzyl)-2-(2,2-dimethyl-5-oxo-[1,3]dioxolan-4-ylidene)-N-methyl-acetamide (Compound 37-A) was treated with paraformaldehyde and 4-(aminomethyl)-benzoate hydrochloride salt with 1 equivalent of triethyl amine as described in the preparation of Compound 37. The title compound was purified by chromatography (YMC Combiprep ODS-A, 30 mm×50 mm, MeOH/H2O/0.1% TFA) to yield the title compound as a yellow foam (0.060 g, 26% yield). 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ: 2.98 (s, 3H), 3.91 (s, 3H), 4.05 (s, 2H), 4.56 (s, 2H), 7.07 (dd, J=1.8 Hz, J=8.1 Hz, 1H), 7.30 (m, 3H), 7.40 (m, 1H), 8.00 (d, J=8.1 Hz, 1H). HRMS (M−H) calcd for C22H20N2Cl2O5: 461.0671. found: 461.0690.
