N-(3-Cyano-4-fluorobenzyl)-2-(2,2-dimethyl-5-oxo-[1,3]-dioxolan-4-ylidene)-N-methoxy-acetamide was treated with methanol as described in the preparation of Compound 44-D and gave the title ester as white crystals (47% yield); mp 125–126° C. 1HNMR 400 MHz (CDCl3) δ (ppm): 3.75 (3H, s, OCH3), 3.90 (3H, s, OCH3), 4.81 (2H, s, NCH2), 6.44 (1H, s, CH), 7.18 (1H, m, aromatic), 7.56–7.61 (2H, m, aromatics). Anal. calcd for C14H13FN2O5: C, 54.54; H, 4.25; N, 9.08. Found: C, 54.76; H, 4.29; N, 9.04.
