Thionyl chloride (0.86 mL, 2.36 mmol) was added to a solution of 11-(9H-fluoren-9-ylmethoxycarbonylamino)-undecanoic acid (0.086 g, 0.194 mmol) in dichloromethane/DMF [1 mL/1 drop] and stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was evaporated, dissolved in dichloromethane [5 mL] was added dropwise to a solution of {[4-(2′-amino-6′-methyl-biphenyl-3-sulfonyl)-5-methylsulfanyl-thiophen-2-yl]-imino-methyl}-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (0.050 g, 0.097 mmol) [example 25, step c] and triethylamine (0.03 mL, 0.19 mmol) in dichloromethane [3 mL] at room temperature and stirred for several hours. The crude reaction was evaporated and column chromatography (25% EtOAc in hexanes) of the residue yielded the title compound (0.042 g, 47%) as a solid. ESI-MS (m/z): Calcd. for C50H58N4O7S3: 922.35; found: 923.0.
