According to example 1, 2.14 g (7.9 mmol) of 2-(2,2-dimethyl-pentyl)-succinic acid 4-tert-butyl ester, 1.7 mL of DPPA, 1.1 mL of Et3N and 2.44 mL of BnOH provided 1.63 g (54.8% in two steps) of the title compound as an oil. 1HNMR (400 MHz; CDCl3): 0.78–0.89 (m, 9H), 1.10–1.30 (m, 5H), 1.36 (s, 9H), 2.39 (t, 2H, J=5 Hz), 4.95–4.05 (m, 1H), 5.00 (s, 2H), 5.09 (d, 1H, J=9.6 Hz), 7.22–7.30 (m, 5H).
