Procedure
A mixture of 2-chloro-N′-(2-oxo-3-phenyl-1,2-dihydropyrido[2,3-b]pyrazin-6-yl)acetohydrazide (104) (230 mg, 0.698 mmol) and phosphoryl chloride (4 mL, 42.9 mmol) was heated under microwave irradiation at 150° C. for 1.5 hours. The solvent was evaporated, and the residue was diluted with EtOAc, washed with sat. NaHCO3, dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 3-chloro-9-(chloromethyl)-2-phenyl[1,2,4]triazolo[4′,3′:1,6]pyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine (10-2).
