Imidazole (0.46 g) and triethylsilyl chloride (0.82 g) were added to a solution of N-[5-((R)-2-azido-1-hydroxyethyl)-2-benzyloxyphenyl]methanesulfonamide (1.64 g) in N,N-dimethylformamide (20 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 12 hrs. Imidazole (0.15 g) and triethylsilyl chloride (0.21 g) were added to the reaction mixture. After being stirred for additional 3 hrs, water was added to the mixture, and the resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by medium-pressure silica gel column chromatography (eluent: n-hexane/ethyl acetate=5/1) to afford the title compound (1.84 g).
