Reaction Steps

ADP (Bu3NH+)2, AMP (Bu3NH+)2 and UMP (Bu3NH+)2 were prepared from the corresponding free acid and tributylamine (Bu3N; 2 eq) in EtOH. UDP (Bu3NH+)2 was prepared from UDP disodium salt. The latter salt was passed through a column of activated Dowex 50WX-8 200 mesh, H+ form. The column eluate was collected in an ice-cooled flask containing (Bu3N (2 eq) and EtOH. The resulting solution was freeze-dried to yield UDP (Bu3NH+)2 as a viscous oil.
