To a solution of 3-chloro-2-nitrobenzoic acid (1 mmol) and aminomethylenediethyl phosphonate (1.1 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL) was added diisopropylethylamine (5 mmol) followed by pyBOP (1.5 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 3 h and concentrated. The mixture was purified by chromatography to yield N-(diethylphosphonomethyl)-2-nitro-3-chlorobenzamide as a solid.
