Procedure

To a solution of 4-bromomethyl-naphthalene-1-sulfonic acid cyclohexylamide 41 (150 mg, 0.39 mmol) in DMF (5 mL) was added potassium phthalimide (109 mg, 0.58 mmol). The resultant solution was stirred at room temperature and then heated to 100° C. for 3 hr. The reaction was quenched with water and extracted with CH2Cl2. The organic layers were dried and concentrated in vacuo. HPLC purification of the residue gave the title compound (G-4) (63 mg) as white foam. 1H NMR (300 MHz, MeOD) δ 8.67 (d, 1H), 8.42 (d, 1H), 8.22 (d, 1H), 7.88 (m, 23H), 7.76 (m, 4H), 5.48 (s, 2H), 4.48 (d, 1H), 3.12 (d, 1H), 1.58 (m, 6H), 1.10 (m, 4H); LC/MS m/z 449 (M+H)+.
