Procedure

To a solution of 5-benzoylamino-naphthalene-1-sulfonyl chloride 44 (0.1 g, 0.29 mmol) in dichloromethane (0.5 mL) was added triethylamine (0.06 ml, 0.43 mmol) and p-anisidine (0.05 g, 0.3 mmol). The resultant solution stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was quenched with water and the compound extracted into ethyl acetate. The organic extracts were washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to provide the crude product as a yellow oil. 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO) δ 8.65 (d, 1H), 8.19 (d, 1H), 8.06 (m, 3H), 7.70 (m, 2H), 7.54 (m, 2H), 6.84 (d, 2H), 6.69 (d, 2H), 3.56 (s, 3H); LC/MS (M+H)+ m/z 433.
