Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (1.13 g, 5.5 mmol) in dichloromethane (20 ml) was added to a stirred solution of the product of step b) (0.95 g, 5 mmol), (S)-3-(Acetylthio)-2-methylpropanoic acid (0.81 g, 5 mmol) and 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine (0.06 g, 0.5 mmol) in dichloromethane (30 ml). The mixture was stirred overnight, filtered and the solvent evaporated. The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate, filtered and washed with potassium hydrogen sulphate solution, sodium bicarbonate solution and brine and the solvent evaporated. Chromatography on silica with ethyl acetate/petroleum ether as eluant gave the sub-title compound (1.1 g).
