Procedure

A mixture of 6.8 g of methyl 2-[[[(1-methyl-2-(4-(3-trifluoromethylphenylmethoxy)-phenyl)-2-E-[ethoxyimino]ethylidene)amino]oxy]methyl]-α-(methoxyimino)-phenylacetate and 4.3 ml of an 8 molar solution of methylamine in ethanol is left to stand at room temperature for 4 days. The mixture is then evaporated in vacuo. The residue is taken up in methyl acetate and the solution is washed with water and saturated sodium chloride solution, dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated in vacuo. The residue is recrystallized from methyl acetate/hexane 1:1. The title compound with a melting point of 130-132° C. is obtained.
