To a solution of tert-butyl 4-{[(3,4-dichloro-5-methyl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)carbonyl]amino}piperidine-1-carboxylate (Intermediate 2, 2.9 g, 7.7 mmol) in 15 ml DCM was added 15 ml TFA. The solution was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes before evaporating off solvent under reduced pressure. Solid dark product was obtained in quantitative yield.
