Using the procedure to synthesize Example 1 and using reagents γ-butyrolactone (1.1 g, 13 mmol), and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl iodide (5.6 g, 20 mmol) affords 2.5 g (78%) of the title compound as a tan solid. 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 7.36 (d, 1H), 7.17 (m, 2H), 4.30 (m, 1H), 4.10 (m, 1H), 3.32 (dd, 1H), 2.87-2.78 (m, 2H), 2.20 (m, 1H), 1.95 (m, 1H).
