200 mg of 3-cyano-2-(3-furan-2-yl-propanoylamino)-4,7-dihydro-5H-thieno[2,3-c]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester are dissolved in 7 ml of a mixture of dichloromethane and TFA and stirred at room temperature for 3 h. Evaporation of the solvent gives 250 mg of the desired product as TFA salt in sufficient purity for the next steps.
