The 2-(4-Hydroxy-5-methoxy-pyrimidin-2-ylmethyl)-isoindole-1,3-dione (50 mg, 0.18 mmol) is suspended in EtOH (2 mL) and to which NH2NH2 (0.5 mL) is added and the mixture is stirred till no starting material left. The precipitate is filtered and the filtrate is concentrated to provide the desired product, which is used directly without further treatment. MS (ESI): 156 (M+1)+1.
