Procedure
1.25 g (3.05 mmol) of 2-[4-(4-chlorophenyl)piperazin-1-yl]-6,7-dihydrothieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-ol (II) is placed in 4.50 mL of phosphorus oxychloride, then stirred for 4 hours at 120° C. Then excess phosphorus oxychloride is distilled off, the residue is combined with water. The precipitate formed is suction filtered, washed with plenty of water, and dried, then stirred with methanol. 0.960 g of product III (85%) is obtained.
